Welcome to PIILC 2023

We are pleased to announce the 2023 Pittsburgh-Ireland International Lung Conference: Precision Medicine in Lung Diseases: From Cellular Mechanisms to Clinical Phenotypes on October 16-17, 2023 at the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dublin, Ireland. The target audience for this meeting consists of physicians, scientists, physician scientists, physician assistants, registered nurses, PhD students, and trainees involved in clinical and research activities in the pulmonary, critical care, immunology, and infectious disease fields seeking to further their education.

We anticipate approximately 300 medical professionals and researchers in attendance. Conference attendees will include members of the University of Pittsburgh Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Ireland, Trinity College in Dublin, and University College Dublin. The conference may also attract other clinical providers in this regional area.

In this year's Pittsburgh-Ireland International Lung Conference (PIILC), we will focus on new insights into lung function and diseases by examining the cellular mechanisms that comprise this complex organ. With a focus on the presentation of cutting-edge topics in clinical, translational, and basic research, the PIILC brings together international leaders to participate in thematic discussion and foster collaboration. Speakers from the United States, Ireland, and adjoining countries will bring novel insights on the role of precision medicine as it pertains to Aging and Fibrosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Sleep, Asthma, Acute Lung Injury, Lung Cancer, and Pulmonary Hypertension. These national and international experts in the fields of Epithelial Cell Biology, Aging, Environmental Health, and Immunology have all contributed important work on the cellular basis of disease and helped paint a richer landscape of our understanding of human medicine.
